Athens, Greece, October 23, 2013 – a leading European manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) products, today announced that the company is launching a fund raising initiative to support the conservation of Amur Leopards in the wild.
The Amur Leopard [Panthera pardus orientalis] is one of, if not the most, endangered large cat in the world. It has blue eyes, and has fur that is about 1 “long in the summer but grows to 3” long in the winter. There are only 28 -35 Amur Leopards in the wild, making it critically endangered.
“If this species has any chance of survival, several things have to happen. Poaching has to stop, forest fires have to be controlled, and education programs are needed,” said Hamlet Tunyan, Chief Executive Officer of RECOM. “We are committed to help these magnificent creatures by raising funds for ALTA – The Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance for conservation efforts in Far Eastern Russia,” added Tunyan.
